Hey guys.. Looks like Im prob. gonna sell my Explorer in hopes of gettin some little 4 banger.. Gas mileage is eating me up considering I drive around 60 miles a day.. So Im curious as to what it might be worth.. It's a white XLT.. it has 191k.. Has roof rack, tow package, full power, cloth seats.. It's 2wd.. Runs and drives great.. Has recent tune up, a new clutch, rebuilt 5 spd, new slave cylinder, new battery, (about 2k miles on the new parts) will have a new EGR soon.. Looks sharp is and pretty clean. Has some rust in the rear passenger door.. But you dont see it much w/ the door shut.. And it could use a set of tires.. Think I could possibly get 2000 outta it? I was tryna come up w/ a fair price to list it with, cuz when I do.. Im gonna be firm on that price.. So if ya guys could help me out.. Would be much appreciated.

I bought mine in Feb this year-- It is a 94 XLT manual 4x4. At the time I bought it, it had 105K miles, some scratches on the paint, but no significant body rust, a good amount of frame rust though, I knew it needed new front brakes and rotors. The KBB "private party" value was about $3,800, asking was $2,600, my first offer was $1,500, I paid $1,900.

I'm near NYC though, so I think the guy was having a hard time selling a manual tranny(think traffic jams).

Enter your vehicle info in the kelley blue book guide, Go to www.kbb.com
There you will find retail, private, and trade in worth of your vehicle.

You can't go by the online sites anymore. They are not real world. I'd say 1500 at most. You have 3 major things against you. No one wants a truck that's 2wd since most people want a beater 4wd for snow. Not many want the pain of a stick in a truck, & that's alot of miles even if it does run good.

the fact that it has rust is a huge factor against you, if its in the door, not as much, but if its in the body, that is bad. Kelly blue book has a car like that at no value with that many miles, needs tires, rusted parts, 5 spd and 2wd. I would list it around $1500 and expect to take no less than $800. I guess you dont love your 94 as much as your name says.... :D

search auto trader for local explorers that are close to yours. Around here the older sports go for about 1500.

well ####.. this doesnt sound good.. guy at work offered to trade me his Civic.. maybe I should go with that

If you truely loved your 94 X you would keep it, rebuild it, lift it, and transform it into an offroad dream machine as I did mine (maybe a prerunner since its only 2wd). The 1st Gen. Explorer has alot of potential, plus it looks bad a$$ jacked up 10"s with big tires. :D
You would be foolish to trade it for a rice burning civic. Although you would save alot of money on gas and a civic would probably be more practical if you're not into the whole offroad thing.

Dont care for the off road thing.. And I definitely wouldnt make it into a ricer.. I just wanna get something that is a little more suited to my situation.

go for the civic, they are very practical, if that is what you need right now. I've been there, done that, tighten the belt !!;)

park the x and buy the civic. drive the civic while you rebuild the x into the offroad dream machine mentioned before. then when you're done and are in a more affordable situation put some stickers on the civic and a cheap intake and exhaust and sell it to a high school kid. And some subs if you want them to pay top dollar.

Fuel filter

Could anyone give me some guidance on the location of the fuel filter on a 97 4x4?
