I have a GEM out of a '95 Sport OHV if it will work, I'm not sure on the cross-fit of the GEM's...

Not sure if they would be the same Joe, because I think but not 100% but thought that the 95 and 96 sports didn't have the Center-Axle-Disconnect, And I think the GEM controls that, so if this is true he would have to do JDrapers mod of manually controlling the Center-Axle-Disconnect.

That's what I was afraid of- I have no idea how these GEM's interchange by year, trans, or trim level. Is there some sort of list someplace? I've seen a bunch of people ask about them, and no real answer.

would be nice, I found one from a guy on ebay, cost me a lot but at least it is the right one. Thanks for the help. Anyone know how to exchange them out?

Update as to what is going on. As I told you I got the aftermarket alarm pulled out and there is no more problem there. I know that my check engine light is due to EGR valve insufficient flow, but that is last on my list. The issues at hand right now are first of all, the 4wd lights flashing and a whining noise coming from the wheels while driving, I don't think 4wd is engaged but I could be wrong. Second of all the power windows, defrost, interior lights when I remove the key, all don't work. The windows worked today when I pulled all the fuses and put them back in but on the next restart they stopped working again. Third of all, no AC. If we could work through these I would be very happy. I wan't to give this back to my fiance so I can start working on my car. Thanks

Josh

did you change the GEM?

I purchased a new GEM from some guy on ebay but after I plugged it in nothing changed. I believe it may have been the wrong part number but I am not sure. I don't want to pay another 200 if it wont fix the problem. Does the AC also run off the GEM? Some people tell me that all these problems can be related.

F57B-14B205-CH is my current GEM
The Gem I bought is F77B-14B205-EA

Hmm...I'm not sure what all the GEM runs....What was the GEM from?

THE GEM the guy sold me was out of a Explorer Sport 4x4 I believe. I was just wondering because I don't know if that is a seperate issue or not. I am just getting sick of trying to solve all these issues but I can't afford to have someone else do it at this time.

I would imagine the GEM would be somewhat similar but, like I had said to Joe Dirt before I've heard the sports have a "live" axle and us 95 and 96 4door guys have a Center axle disconnect that I'm pretty sure is ran by the GEM so if you use your 4X4 which being here in PA I'm guessing you do, you will need to manually control that.

Update on everything. I have learned a lot from this forum. I fixed the flashing 4wd lights and the power windows for under $10 with one thing...A relay. There was a relay under the dash right above the gas pedal that was bad. After I replaced that all the windows worked and the 4wd lights stopped flashing. The AC now works also, I figured out you have to charge it to above the recomended charge just for the compressor to kick in, and then it would pump it through the system. I ran a can of leak fix through also to seal any leaks that might have caused it to be discharged. It has been holding now for weeks. I got all the speakers and headunit replaced with no problem. I just spiced the speakers into the wires. For the headunit I spiced it to a speedwire (from bestbuy) and ran the speedwire to the rear where all the individual speaker wires are located and spiced it there. Everything sounds great and works great as far as the stereo goes now except I need some foam for around the speakers to stop the rattle.

The only issues left now on this thing are the EGR, whining noise in the front end (getting worse), and the driver door not locking with power locks, but will lock manually. Thanks for all the help, if you have any recomendations for these issues let me know.

Hi,

Sorry to highjack the thread but i have almost the same problem with the
4wd light.
Then i start the engine there is 6 klick's, a short pause then one klick more from a relay under the dashboard. After a while the 4wd light flashes 6 times. After a whle it's flashes six times again and so on.
I have 4wd on auto, but the hi/lo motor does not work when trying ti engage low gear.
I guess that the relay i hear is the same that you replaced, did your klicked?

Saved my life with this one. I did not even know about those relays down there. Luckily I had an extra one of these relays, and swapped it out. WHAM now my windows work again, and my transfer case as well.

My windows would sparatically not work sometimes, and the 4wd and 4wd low lights would flash. Really terribly to get stuck with your windows up, and no a/c, when you live in florida!!
