First check: inertial fuel shut-off switch. Is it tripped? If yes, reset it, try starting. If no,
second: Can fuel pump be heard to run (listen carefully) for 2 seconds, then stop, when ignition is turned "on" with the key?. If pump is heard, rule out fuse, wiring problem, inertia switch failure.
third: If pump cannot be heard, repeat test with someone listening closely at fuel fill pipe with cap removed. Not all pumps can be heard in the vehicle. If heard: when was (if ever) fuel filter replaced? Sudden clog of filter is NOT UNHEARD OF. If filter is thought to be OK, or is replaced, and no help, go to
fourth: Fuel pressure regulator mounted on fuel rail of intake manifold. If it is faulty, it can be dumping all the fuel delivered to the engine back into the fuel tank. The best bet at this point would be to hook a pressure gauge to the Schrader valve provided on the rail, turn key on, see if any pressure at all is developed. Do this several cycles. If there is SOME pressure, one of three things is happening: a big leak is spilling the fuel out under the vehicle (you already know NOT), filter is partially clogged, or pressure regulator is faulty. imp
