Possibly your MFS (multi function switch) aka turn signal switch.

I know it sounds strange but my wife had a Dodge Shadow several yeras ago and I tried everthing and it ended up being the MFS.

Oh, by the way welcome aboard.

More than likely its not your MFS (By the way that is on the column) do you have a message Center? I don't think you do but i am not sure. Because more than likely it is the LOM and it controls every Exterior Light.. I recently had a problem with my LOM and my head lights but i know for sure that it controls the Tail lights and the brake lights too...

Im going to Do a how to on how to Find and Remove the LOM today so Check the How to Section soon but just search LOM or Lamp Outage Module

But hope this is to some Help

How do you know your switch is fine? I just had the same problem with mine and the switch looked fine even when I pulled it off. It was only $7 at advance so I would give it a shot.

Yes, I checked the sockets and they are ok (corrosion free). The lights worked earlier this week and then just nothing. I used a wire and jumped around the switch and still the same result

I'm not a real mechanic but My sons toyota camry had the same problem. Understand Ford v toyota. Anyway his car had a switch in the trunk that all it was there for was to tell you you had a bad bulb either L/R. I was able to bypass rather then spend $160 for a switch to tell me I had a burnt bulb. Look through the wiring diagram to see if you explorer has a similar switch.

Does your high mount stop light work? Some fords the brake light circuit goes through the MFS, but not this one.
