95 Splorer XLT 2 WD 4L
Hello everyone. The other day I traded my friend a HP laptop for a 95 XLT with 124k miles on it. The truck body and inside is in great shape, the engine needs a water pump which I tried doing but couldn't get the fan off. I have to get a strap wrench to hold the WP pulley.

None of the dome/map lights come on when the doors are opened as well as none of the door lights. The rear dome/map comes on when you turn them on at the switch on the actual lights on the headliner. The fronts do not work as well as the compass will not turn on even when you press the button on the console of the lights. I checked all of the fuses and they are all fine and not broken.

This is on a 4.0L

Thanks a lot!

...Get your codes read and bring them back here...Otherwise, it's a guessing game...

..:btw, where are you located???

South Florida near Ft. Lauderdale. I'm going to scan it although there are no check engine lights on.

I agree with the guessing game but sometimes codes don't show up. On a a usd vehicle it's safe to assume that it needs some of the regular maintenance done for starters (air filter ,plugs that sort of thing). As for the lights, check the switches in the door jams.

Ok, for sure scanning it on Saturday. I know it needs a little maintenance, the throttle body sure does need a cleaning. I haven't pulled plugs yet so I have no idea what condition they are in.

Inspect each plug. The color and condition tells a story about what is going on in the cylinder. If there are plugs that look different than the others then its not a bad idea to mark what cylinder they came out of. Hopefully all we see is normal wear on the plugs. If they are stuck don't break the hex off of the thread. One or two of them are a little hard to get to.

Good luck.

Back to the electrical problem. The front dome lights do work now with bulbs, I should have checked that first..
The compass still does not work, it looks like they are all on the same electrical circuit. The power mirror switch also does not work. I checked all of the fuses and they are all fine. Any ideas?

Spray PB blaster on the door switch.
