What is the deal? Maybe it's just me but I am from Chicago and since I remember about a month and a half ago I drove to texas and my truck seemed to be running too cold. I was cruising around 70mph and the thermostat was barely even 25% of the way up on the guage for most of the way there. Now that I removed the chip it hasn't made much of a difference in local driving and freeway. Is this a bad thing, and should I be worried?

Your thermostat is probably stuck. I replaced mine just recently and the engine is running at normal temperature.

Yea, it is pry your T-stat... most of the time they will stay closed when they go out, but ocationally I have heard of the staying open when they go out. It is a quick and easy fix and if it turns out to not be the T-stat... you would have had to replace it eventually anyway.;)

What degree thermostat should I go with the stock replacement or should I go colder/warmer?

Mine runs cold also. It doesn't even get to the "N" on normal. Does this sound like the thermostat?

Definitely go with the stock replacement. Your computer depends on it.

thanks....you guys are awsome!;)

Coolant levels....

My 95 is running cold too and I am wanting to replace the thermostat. How much if any coolant needs to be removed??

At least to avoid creating an environmental hazard..

If you've never done so before, now's a good time to flush the system and put in all new coolant. You're gonna loose some anyways, might as well do both at once.

I replace my t-stat about 3.5 years ago. I also had my coolant flushed about 1 year ago. The temp gauge hardly moves maybe 20%. It hangs out right on the "N" and never gets any warmer. It does start out very low and works its way up to the "N". Should I worry about this or does this sound normal for a '94?

Thanks

Hey all....just wanted to let everyone know about the results after I swapped out the thermostat. I replaced it with a stock replacement 195 and it runs a lot warmer now! The guage actually went up to half way today on my 95, it does get cooler when I take off from a stop but once again it does run warmer now.

I replaced the thermostat (and water pump and all the hoses and put in long-life) and that needle hasn't met up with the N in a long time. It has been cold here but not that cold. About 35-40 degrees at night. I wouldn't worry about it that much. And just replace all the coolant and put it in a 5 gallon bucket. Then take it to an auto parts store to avoid an environmental hazard.
