I got around to installing the line out converter yesterday and I ran into a major snag. When I hook up the wires to the converter, I get a large amount of distortion out of the two rear speakers. I ran the converter at the head unit, so that I did not have to dismantle the rear doors. I was wondering if there is anything that would cause this noise. The speaker plays the music but it has a huge amount of static. Also, the subs do not hit very hard, even with the gain controls turned up on amp and the converter. If anyone has any information, I would appreciate it. I don't know if the factory amp has anything to do with the noise. I have read numerous posts about bypassing the amp but I think that is what I did by tapping in at the head unit. Thanks in advance for any help.

Well you either have a bad or just plain Sh***y converter or getting the signal before the factory amp is a problem. (ive never had good sucess wit them) Personally id try after the amp to see if thats the problem.(Well ok id rip the factory POS out along with that so called amp in the back and put in a real HU) Does your amp have line level in? Im assuming no because your using a converter. If it does try hooking the wires directly to your amp. You can try with a single set of wires from one of the factory rear speakers to the converter see if it goes away also.

I had the same problems you are having. All I can tell you is to splice your converter behind the passenger kick panel. I played around with mine way to long, finally I just took it into a car audio place and paid them $45. It sounds good.

I couldn't find the correct wire colors either, every truck seems to be different, even if they are the same year, and the speaker wires seem to change colors going from the deck to the speakers to the amps, back to the front, etc.

It saved me a lot of time and heartache just taking it in...

Sethro was that wired in before or after the factory amp?

Ironically, I am pretty sure it was after the amplifier. When I first took it in, they put it directly behind the deck. The subs worked, but buzzed, clicked, and distorted. When I took it back in the manager side he put the converter up front behind the kick panel. Sounded fine after that.
