Just got this Explorer and found both upper ball joints, upper CA bushings wasted..major movement
I know the left upper is a 1 piece design. Is using a 1 piece right upper have any ill effects or benefits as compared to the upper right 2 piece design?
Seems just using two 1 piece designs would be much easier.

the benefit of the right side 2-piece design is to allow for a little additional caster adjustment. as the 1-piece is offered, i guess it works okay. the 2-piece design is much easier to change if you only need to replace the ball joint.

Thanks. The upper control arm bushings are worn out also on both sides so the easy was would be to replace both arms with 1 piece designs.

I haven't had any problems with the 1-piece replacements. IMO, its a good opportunity to change the bushings too while you're in there.
