96 engine swap

i have a 96 explorer with a 4.0 and the heads are bad, so i was looking for a new motor and was wondering if a newer model 4.0 would bolt right in?

yes and no

there are two 4.0l v6's

in 96 only the ohv was avail

you can use the block and heads from any ohv RANGER OR EXPLORER 96-2001

in this thread i replaced a 1995 ohv 4.0 with one from a 98 ranger, it should be helpful

thanks for the reply's. I just found a motor for a 95 and was wondering if it would work?
