howdy. I'm not a current Explorer owner, but I'm looking at taking a '96 off the hands of a friend who doesn't want to deal with some engine issues
my question is, IF I end up needing a whole new block, heads, intake, etc. how hard would it be to get and about what would it cost in parts alone (used)?
currently, I don't know what's wrong with it. it's been taken good care of, but I guess when she had some work done they didn't do it right and now another shop is telling her she needs a new engine.
so, I'll assume worst case that I do in fact need a new engine, anyone have an idea what that would cost me?
labor isn't a factor, my dad and I would do it ourselves in my uncle's shop.
btw, it has the 5.0 with (I THINK) the GT-40 heads, though she wasn't 100% sure when in it was made, whether 95/early 96 or later.
any help would be appreciated, thanks
