- 1996 Ford Explorer XLT
Konstan; I'm not totally new to Explorer forums, as a matter of fact, I was an Elite Member then just fell through the cracks of threading.
Anyway, I have viewed multiple transmission Youtube transmission videos in an attempt to discover the transmission code vor my 96 Explorer XLT. Some sites basically said the my particular vehicle had a 5R55S
Trans. Yet, according to the information you put out on axle codes and Transmission codes, Your list indicated that my truck could have a Code D (1992-1996) trans model M50D-R1. Then there's another possibility; Code T(1996-2001) 4R55E, or the Code V 5R55S. Either way, last week my O/D OFF light began flashing and according to 1AAuto and others, they stated the problem was the Servo Sensors. Personally I thought it was low on x-mission fluid because when I approached a STOP sign or Traffic light I would experience a hard downshift, and on acceleration there was a minor shift issue. What do you think?
