96 explorer transmission trouble

Explorer won't pass inspection- code PO750 shift solenoid stuck. Internal trans problem. Has trouble shifting from 1st to 2nd. after that it shifts pretty good. o/d light comes on when you hit about 50. engine light on and air bag light on. any guess what it will cost to fix? Is it worth fixing? Do I need a new trans or is it fixable (cost effective) has about 106000 miles, well maintained. v6. PA.
any suggestions?

A few. Believe air bag lite and shifting unrelated. Replace the shift solenoid, and trans. problem likely solved. Cost? Depends on who fixes it!

Fixable, I'd venture a "yes", 106K not excessive miles, if not abused (like towing heavy stuff). imp

Thanks for replying. Actually took it to the trans shop today to see what they'd say- either selenoid or band- dropping pan tomorrow to see how that looks.
didn't tow anything, but, was previously used as a police vehicle.
