I noticed a front swaybar link on my 96 4x4 was broken the other week and proceeded to Ford for a replacement. It seems Ford replaced the 1 piece link with another, heavier yet unimpressive hunk of plastic and beefed up the diameter of the inner bolt. Ford wanted about $70 for both link kits. Needless to say, I opted for an aftermarket urathane/zinc coated bolt kit from my local auto supply store for $20 (a pair). A word of caution: If you need to replace yours, be sure to use a 7" (working length) kit. Shorter links may cause your steering rack arm to hit the sway bar.
