96 v8 awd leaky rear axle seal

hey there .hope someone can help .i have a leaky rear axle seal already talked to auto parts guy 180 bucks canadian i get a rear seal and bearing all in one peice he says thats the one .and i dont need to remove housing on rear end to change it up .......?is this true .........all is done from the wheel well...........im a backyard mechanical guy all the tools i know i have ,is it hard to do ......never heard of it like that before ............ sealed bearing ........thanks for the help

Are you talking about the axle seal at the wheel end, or the pinion seal on the driveshaft?

For the pinion seal, you should be able to change it from teh outside. For the axle seal, I don't know of any way to change it without removing the diff cover (you need to pop the cover to remove the axle shaft retainers to get the old seal and/or bearing out)
