This is an odd one, and yes I have searched. I found a few flashing headlight threads, almost all of them have to do with the factory alarm or day time running lights
Here's the deal:
1996 XLT, 5.0L 155K miles
Last week I wired in my Palm pilot/gps. I wired this sucker into the power supply for the aux 12v power port on the pass side of the center console, no big deal, I never have anything plugged in here and the palm pilot has like a 2 amp fuse. The GPS system also uses an antennea mounted on the center of the dash, bottom of the windshield smack in the middle, just a small box mounted with double sided tape.
Anyways I dont think that install has anything to do with my new problem but I figured I would mention it because this is when my problem first began.
My headlights/fog lights/parking lamps will flash! Key in the ignition truck running. It does not matter if the lights are on/off in parking lamp mode or full headlights. I can hear the relay under the dash switching, so I assume there is a relay box under there for the headlight circuits?
I have not dug into this yet, as it happened once, and then went away for a week. Started again last night and now seems to be constant.
As soon as I start the truck the flashing occurs.
Is it just a simple relay going bad?
Anyone have this issue before?
Where is this box under the dash? what relays are in there and how do I access it?
Before I go digging into this on my own I figured I would ask on here and see if this is a common problem, its quite annoying! hahaha
Thanks!!
