96 XLT
I have a 96 XLT that i would like to put atleast a 2in body lift on. I have checked every local 4x4 place close to where i live and i keep getting mixed answers... Ive herd that there isnt a lift for the 96-98 explorers, ive been told the 96 is a unibody and thus you cant use a body lift on it and ive even asked if you could use a body lift off a ranger of the same year and been told it wouldnt work. The reasion im so confused on the matter is because i see lots of pics of other peoples explorer of the same year with a body lift. So baisicly is there any such body lift for the 96 year? Or is it pretty much impossible as ive been informed so far? Any help/info/strait forward answers would be GREAT!!!! Look forward to interacting with other explorer enthusiast :)

For starters, smack ther person who said your truck in unibody. You have a full fram truck, not some pussy jeep. Now, if you have alot of options. You can use a body lift from a ranger of the same year, but the bumper brackets do not work. You can also turn your torson bars and get another 2 inches or so in the front and buy shackles for the rear. For about $200-$250 you can have an easy four inches of lift.

Who ever told you your X is a unibody is a moron! IF I were you I wouldnt go back to that shop because it sounds to me like they are a bunch of morons!

You want a PA-853 3" body lift made for the Ford Ranger but used widely on the 95-97 Explorer too.

Check the forsale section. You can find some good deals there.:D

This ad helped me a bunch! I've been looking for a lift.. And couldn't find one either. But now It's in my cart and is gonna be ordered.

Thanks ya'll.

I bought and use a kit from Ebay, it comes with rear shackles and new torsion keys, it works great, I upgraded to gas shocks on the front and coil overs on the back and the ride is not rough but nice

many get the body lift for either a 91-94 explorer, or i forgot what year rangers for a 2" or 3" lift respectively. as far as keys and shackles, many brands make them. many choose warrior for shackles.

Just trying to find a way to lift the explorer looked at torsion keys and bars also shocks and adjusting the front keys can’t find the back location
