Hello,
When my 96 XLT is in 4WD and I make a sharp turn like a u turn it makes a weird sound and seems to struggle a little bit, it still drives fine for regular turns and straight. In 2WD it does not do anything like this. I was wondering if anyone had anything like this or if anyone knows what it might be. Thanks!

Actually, that's totally normal. When you are in 4WD, power is being applied to all wheels, so they all want to rotate at the same rate. When you turn, the outer wheels want to rotate faster than the inner wheels, which causes the drivetrain to bind up. This is why you are not supposed to use 4WD on pavement. The system will bind up and can potentially break components. When offroad or on slippery surfaces, a wheel will slip some, relieving the binding condition. What you're hearing/feeling is the drivetrain binding and releasing. It will pop, and shudder, and the wheels will hop some when turning sharp corners in 4WD.
