Hey there. FIrst timer with a first timer post. I've got a 1997 Xploder 4X4 2-dr (I don't think it was a "sport" yet). I enjoy beating the hell out of it and need more light. I've replaced the headlights with some silver stars for on-road use. I want some off road lights too.

How/ where should they be mounted? Doesn't look like I can just screw them into the front bumper. I am having a hard time finding a light bar since I've got no rain gutters. I don't care about drilling holes/ screwing things in anywhere on the rig.

Any suggestions. As far as mounting, I am concerned with heavy duty first, price second, and pretty dead freakin last.

By the way, my rig is the unofficial Chicago Cub Hater mobile of Arkansas. ARK tags "FDACUBS". Can't believe I slipped that by the censors.

Thanks, and GO CARDS!

97' Mounting options??

Newbie here. I've just "won" (long story) a 1997 2 door 4X4 Xploder. I want to add some off-road lights. I don't know where to attach them. I'm not real picky on the size or location of the placements. Looking at starting with 2 lights. Can I just screw them into the front bumper? Anyone got suggestions?

I'm interested in utility first, price a close second, and pretty a long way down the line.

Roof rack

Any special mounts involved? Wiring to the roof?

i just drilled 4 holes int eh stock roof rack and bolted them down. you can run the wirring through the rood(ie: drill) or run it through the back hatch.

Where'd ya get those, and how much did they run you? I was planning on doing the same thing.

EDIT: sorry to bump up such an old post didnt realie it was from feb

I could be wrong on this, he can confirm/correct me, but I think they're from Wal-mart, $20 a pair. I have 4 of them sitting in my basement waiting to go on my roof.

I'll just grab a pair of those then.

Off Road lights

I took some time and found some recycled real KC lights on eBay for about $20 each. I screwed around and got 4 KC lights and 2 almost-KC lights. Once i got the the non-KC and the KCs, I couldn't tell the difference. THe non-KCs even take the replacement parts from KC website. I've had the Walmart versions before. I wouldn't waste the cash. THere's a lot of KC chrome -type knock offs that beat the tar out of the walmart specials.

Whoops. You had "Baja off-road lights" listed on your car-domain, and that's what the ones I got at Walmart are called as well. Plus they look alike, so I just assumed.
