97 A/C Heat Problem

I have a 97 Eddie Bauer that when the A/C is turned on something under the dash will begin to click and the A/C will turn to heat.

Any help would be great!!!

is it near the glove compartment or actually under the dash..

blend door actuator comes to mind as I just had that happen to mine.click Click Click...Replaced the actuator and all is fine. although it was apain in the ass..

How can you tell if its just the actuator or if the heater box and blend door must be replaced as well? I also have a 97 (Sport) with heat and MAX A/C that are not controllable...I've been hesitant to do anything with it because of the cost, uncertainty and the dealers in this area don't seem to stock the parts anyway so after they get it all apart then they order what they need...Barry

when it is clicking you put your han on the actuattor and you can feel it trying to move. in mine the gear inside as stripped so it was fairly easy to diagnose.
