Hey all,

I have a 97 Explorer that I bought a few weeks ago and the cigar lighter doesn't work (no secondary ports that I can find). It won't turn the lighter on, charge a phone, or anything.

Owners manual says Fuse #17 , 25 amp controls it. I checked and it's there and isn't blown.

Any thoughts on where to look next? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check the back of the cigarette lighter socket to see if one of the connectors has come loose. Might be as simple as that! Good luck!

Will do. I'll check it when I replace the bulbs in the dash next weekend.

Turns out the power connector on the center of it had come disconnected somehow. Plugged it back up when I did my dash-light LED swap and it now works!

Thanks for the heads up. K.I.S.S. theory at work!

Hey all,

I have a 97 Explorer that I bought a few weeks ago and the ecig called Aerotank Mega lighter doesn't work (no secondary ports that I can find). It won't turn the lighter on, charge a phone, or anything.

Owners manual says Fuse #17 , 25 amp controls it. I checked and it's there and isn't blown.

Hello friend bit old thread but were you able to find some solution? I do have similar query so can you help me out?

In post #4 he says that the center pin had come unplugged, causing the cigarette lighter to not work. Plugged it back in, and it worked again . If you are having similar issues check the fuses, then check the wires. Gotta be one of the two! Good luck! And welcome to the forum!

On the back of the lighter socket is the power connector. As mentioned, once I determined the fuse was good, that's what I found to be the issue.
