im working on a friend's '97 explorer 4.0L (the first version of the 4.0L) and for the life of me i cannot figure out that is wrong with it, the battery light stays on, and its not charging, so i figure alternator, mmm, alternator was replaced recently ok so i slap on another one. still the same problem, battery light still on and it wont charge, as soon as i pull the pos cable off the battery it dies. the harness looks fine, there is power at the eyelet connector on the alt, i have no idea what else to check. she needs this thing to get to work and shuffle her kids around and i know she doesnt have the money to take it to a dealer. please help
