I have a feeling its timing chain related. I did the 00m12 TSB Myself with no cure. So I guess the next step would be to do the Timing chain cassette Upgrade.Anyone done this and how many hours to do the swap?

TIA
Rich

Yep, but it's not easy and you need special tools to align the cams. Figure on ten hours of labor and a cost of $150 or more for parts. I did mine while the engine was in the X, and yes it can be done.

What kind of noise. I have a 2000 4.0SOHC and it made a "rattling"/"tapping" noise when I started it. I took it to Ford and they told me that they have a service bulliten for this, NOT a recall. Only if you came in, did they fix it. They replaced the timing chain tensioner's, cam sprocket and an I think even the chain on the drivers side. Not to mention all the damn gaskets that had to be replaced to get to those items.

Thanks Rick.

Do you have the part number for the complete kit?

Rich

Sorry, I could not find my invoice for the 01M01, but it is a kit like the 00M12. The number I gave you on my first post is for the cam chain tensioner and lower intake manifold o-ring which will fix most of the problems you are having, but not all.
