97 Tranny has reverse, no forward

I have a 1997 v6, non 4wd....Reverse is ok but put in in drive and I have this god awful noise, whine, grind...something..... tranny fluid is ok. wasnt having problems, just happened on the way home. Think the tranny is shot? Help please...

I cant tell you what is broken but whatever it is it cannot be fixed without removing the transmission and tearing it apart and basically rebuilding it.

broken sprag... i have the same issue right now just start in "2" and shift up twice when u hit 25 mph, then remember to downshift at stop lights ive had drive like this for like 2 years now still going strong just make sure you always have the fluid level correct.

Nope...I got no forward at all. Sucks ....i had a mechanic but no $ yet. Now I got the $ and the guy moves away....
