Your in the same boat I am in. Nobody makes these except Ford Racing and they have suposedly discontinued them. The part # is M-9430-E50 for stainless, M-9430-E51 for ceramic coated. This part is actually for the 1996 headers (internal EGR, no EGR bung on passenger side header) but they fit the 1997 and newer with external EGR as long as you weld on a bung for the EGR tube. Ford Racing offered M-9439-E52 with the bung, but these apparently haven't been available for an even longer period of time. I am working on a couple of leads right now for the M-9430-E50 headers but don't have a positive "hook" yet. If I find a source I will be sure to post it.

By the way, what kind of mods do you have making that kind of power? Just curious!:D

Hey Guys.. check this out. http://www.partsvoice.com/

Type in your Zip and M-9430-E50 and it'll tell you the nearest dealer who has them in STOCK! :D Get 'em while they last!

Section525: Thanks for the tip! I tried partsvoice last week but must have not used it properly because it didn't turn anything up. This time it worked, so now I have these things on order from two different places! I hope I can snag a set!

You might be better off (and anyone else planning on getting them through here) giving them a call using their 'contact' deal. That way you talk directly to the dude holding the headers and he can tell you he has them and he's putting your name on them.

Well, I can tell you that the "Racing Superstore" doesn't have them! Strike one. @*$&&($^!!

Still waiting to hear back from Chicago Ford Parts but I am guessing that may be a dead end.

Persistence pays off right?

Someone IM'd me and told me this is how they got theirs. So I know it works! (At least once!)

Two more strikes, so I guess I'm out. I checked both CA dealers that were listed. GONE! This sucks, and since the aftermarket seems to ignore the V8 Explorer I guess we are screwed.:banghead:

Try summitracing.com, i got mine from there last month with no problem.

Good luck!

If you want a stock pair there is a set on ebay!! I don't know how bad you need a set? I'm looking for a set for a 97 also. Richard

hey guys... thanks for tryin to help....first thing, where in the summit catalog is there headers for 98 5.0 X....second thing the hp is curtesy of alot of $$$$. ill give u the parts i used 1 by 1 when i make a list and find the receipts.... its not hard to pull ALOT of power from these motors....but it is hard to pull the motors from the truck(what ws for thinking, theres no room for this motor in this truck) but anyways the most power comes from whats in the engine not around it (intakes chips ect) although they do work together to biuld the power....but anyways ill get ya a list of what i did to make the power, the one thing i cant find is these darn headers.....btw, this site is great and u guys are all great help.......ttyl

Summit doesn't have them. I tried earlier this week. The guy told me they have BBK's but I think it is for the 6 banger I never told him they were for a V* I gave him the Ford part#

i have heard that gibson makes them and that flowteck makes them but only for 96' explorers....im wondering what the diferance is and if the only diferance is the port for the egr i could easily weld one on.....so basicaly if anyone out there has headers on a v8 explorer please respond and let me know what if any the differance is in the 96' to 98'......again, thanks for all help

Yes, the only difference is the EGR. I have '96 headers on my '99 so I can vouch. :D

so the verdict is ....i CAN put 96' headers on my 98 IF i weld on a port for egr...correct?....also what can i use forthe new port on the new headers?? can i cut it off the manifolds and reuse it on the headers??? thanks for the help...

Yup. Weld the EGR port on and youre good to go.

What do you mean about the new port on the headers? The headers are a direct replacment of the manifolds.

what i mean is what do i weld on the new headers to mount the egr....do i cut the old port (bung) off the manifolds and weld it on the headers or is there something else i can use to mount the egr to the new headers.....thanks.....pics would be good if ya have any....and thanks for the help

Ahh.. I gotcha. I think you could probably do it either way. It seems like it would be easier to get a nut that'll screw onto your EGR tube, drill a hole in the header, and weld the nut on.

I didn't have to do this process on mine because I converted it all over to internal EGR. (Which my '96 should be).

if yall are looking for the '96 explorer headers....try oemfordparts.com in weatherford, TX. they were able to get me some of the stainless steel headers.

Hmmm. Don't think I checked there yet. How long ago did you get those headers from OEMFordParts? Recently?

These things have got to be out there yet somewhere!
