just wanted to say thanks for all the help.....your all awsome...

OEMFord Parts: NOPE, Diversified Products: NOPE, Mustangs Unlimited: NOPE, still waiting to hear from Chicago Ford Parts. Fat chance I'm sure.

FRPP needs its ass kicked!

I just e-mailed a few header companys telling them our problems and seeing if they would like to help. Maybe we should have Rick start a tread so we can start a list of names who would be willing/wanting to get a set of nice 1 5/8" or 1 3/4" shortie headers built for out V-8 trucks!!! I know that my HP # are hurting due to my headers(FMS)

so far I have e-mailed the following:

- Kook's (they will make headers for $1500-2000)
- Dynamax
- MAC
- JBA
- Flowtech / Holley
- Gibson

That sounds like a fabulous idea. Someone in the aftermarket has got to step up and fill the void. There is no reason these parts should not be available. I realize Ford probably sells a lot more V6 Explorers, but come on, this is a relativly popular motor! I really think that any of the mainstream companies that you mentioned could supply us a quality product at an afordable price. Ford did it for $160! Wonder who produced those for Ford? Maybe they could be convinced to produce again?

I though about Stahl headers www.stahlheaders.com since I live like 10 miles from them, but after looking over their web site I feel that we would be looking at another $1000 to $1500 set of headers which just isn't realistic.

I'll be first on the list for a stainless shorty that falls under $400!

hey pure ony.....where did you get the headers that you have now (fms).....whats wrong with them??....you just dont like them....

I had mustangs unlimited order them for me since i only live about 30 mins from them and they are an SVT dealer. I have had them for about 3.5 years now. The quailty of the headers are great! I have the stainless hot jet coated ones and they still look brand new..... but they are to small. they are only 1 1/2" and the opening are very small..... I mean they are awesome compaired to the crap that comes from the factory. I cant believe the engine even runs with the stock headers.... but I am just not getting the flow that i need with my blower.
I really am dying to get a new set of 1 3/4" headers and a new custom bend 2 1/2" dual exhaust with dynomax ultra flow mufflers and 2 hi-flow cats...... I am sick of my chambered flowmasters and the headers.... they are robbing me of hp bad.

98X5.0 - hey ... how far are you from Allentown?

I just found a place in GLENDALE, AZ ..... is that were Rick lives???

its called S&S headers and they build all types of custom street rod, strip, truck...etc... headers. I also just e-mailed them to let them know what we are looking for.

PUR PONY: I'm 10 miles west of York PA, so, Allentown is a good 2-2.5 hrs away.

well let me know what s&s says about availability of headers thanks for lookin around....

no problem... hopefully some header company will come through and build something useful for us.

98X5.0 - hey... ya... i did a yahoo map search. Do you ever go to ALL FORDS at carlisle??

Sure do. Had the Cobra there last year. I will have it there again this year and maybe the X. I am kinda doubtful about the X since it is to dang stock!:( Wedding costs have put a real damper on "fun money".

ok- ill have to meet you thins year. I was there last year with my X and my buddy had his mystic cobra there... we are both from CT and went down for the weekend- planning again this year.

Still Looking up here in the Northwest. Nothing yet. If i get a lead i will post here. You guys do the same. I can NOT believe Ford discontinued them. Everyone i talked with gets one to two calls a day for them. Who did Ford have build them? Thanks for the HELP. Richard

here is what dynomax had to say so far- just got the e-mail.

Dynomax-
"Thank you for your inquiry for Dynomax Exhaust. We appreciate your
interest in our products. In regards to your 1996 Ford Explorer with a
V-8, unfortunately at this time we are discontinuing our Emission legal
header line, however I will pass your information on to our engineering
group for consideration.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact our tech
line at the number below."

and here is what FLOWTECH responded with-

"We currently do not offer a header for the V8 explorers. At this time, we
have no plans to make any, but i will pass you suggestion along to our
product management group.
Thanks,"

I think this is pretty funny since every truck add on website i go to lists FLOWTECH as having headers for V-8 explorers!

These responses sound like the polite way of saying "that's nice, but we don't really give a dam about 5.0 Explorers."

Hey, PUR PONY, I remember your friend with the Mystic Cobra. I talked to him for a little while on Sunday. Chrome Cobra R's, right? Magnaflow exhaust right? I remember listening to his exhaust because it was the first one I had seen with the Magnaflow system, which at the time I was quite interested in. Take a guess at what is on my Cobra! I can't remember his name, but it was a nice looking Mystic. Ask him if he remembers the guy with the white 98' Cobra that was so interested in his exhaust. He might remember me, but I doubt it.
