I found the oil leak and it is the oil filter adapter o rings that are failed. It has a rather large oring. Then a green oring. And yet ANOTHER smaller black oring that was just hard as a rock and fell right apart the second i touched it.

Im trying to look for part numbers on rock auto and i see a Mahle kit but not exactly sure if it will contain all the orings i need.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Havent posted in years so i guess thats a good thing. But hopefully someone has seen these orings before and knows what im talking about. Its not the gasket type that shares coolant passages. Looks like a 1/2" pipe thread and on that thread it has an oring and then at the end of it where the cap of the bolt head is theres another green one. Hope thats clear enough. Thanks in advance!

Yeah, I just dealt with something similar on my 98 v8. You need this... FEL-PRO ES73131. That looks like it has everything you need.

I wound up having to torch out the bolt seal and slather in some permatex for mine. They don't make those seals for the V8 adapters.

Okay I found the correct o-rings. Took a while to show up but they were the correct size. One of the orings I had to order separately as it doesnt come with the ES73131 kit.

I remember reading that the 5.0L adapter uses an oil filter gasket, no kidding.

Early v8's did when there was an oil cooler built into them. The later ones, 99-01, was just an aluminum housing with pressed in non replaceable seals.
