I finally did it.... after not being able to rely on the local muffler shops for information, I did some research of my own. Found a DI 2 1/4, SO 3" Magnaflow 50 series Truck/SUV muffler that looked like it would be a close fit. Found it at a local speed shop for $97. I took it to a local muffler shop they referred me to, and they did the install while I waited for $50. (Top Value Muffler wanted $275 for the same muffler, $25 to install it) They had to cut the brackets on the cat pipes to spread the pipes ever-so-slightly, then they installed a flange on the driver's side muffler inlet to mate it up with the OEM flange, installed an adapter to get the 3" outlet back down to the stock 2 1/4" tailpipe, made a couple of hanger brackets that they welded to the adapter, and sent me on my way in a half hour!
The Flow50 SUV/Truck sounds awesome. It drones just a little bit from 80-82 (and I seldom exceed 75 anymore), but it's otherwise quiet at cruising throttle. At WOT, it's got as much growl as the rotted-out OEM one had, and when accelerating, it's got just a bit of rumble to it.
I love it!!
Now if I could just figure out how to get a sound clip from it.... the digital camera will only make it sound like a fart-can!
