I'm having some trouble with the transfer case on my 98. It was completely rebuilt about 2 years ago and began thumping while accelerating. It did that for a while until we took it to the transmision guy who did the work. Apparently the thumping was the T-Case shifting in and out of 4x4 HI back to 2 HI. This tore up the gears in the T-Case and it had to be completely rebuilt. Well, it worked fine for about 3 months, but it has started again. My question is this: I'm pretty sure it's something electrical, but could there be anything mechanical that causes this? The truck is in pretty good shape for it's age, but the thumping is getting rather violent during acceleration and i'm worried about having to get it rebuilt again. If anyone had this problem and can offer a possible solution that would be great.
