Just a couple questions guys. Wifes front passenger axle seal is leaking, is there actually a rubber seal in there or a bearing? I am assuming a rubber seal. Second been going on for months now and have spoke to my father on the issue (he has worked on everything with wheels since I was a kid and before) Rear brakes are squeaking. Did as he suggested. Pull everything off cleaned with brake cleaner, plenty of material on pads sound persists. Goes away temporarily after going through car wash then returns? Mechanical issue? or just brake dust? Help would be appreciated.

1. rubber seal
2. I would think it is just the type of pads, may want to consider turning rotors.

You may have worn out brake pads, and/or the caliper slides may be sticking.

You can remove the caliper and pads easily, its only two 10mm bolts. The caliper floats on a slider hidden by those rubber accordian boots and they should slide easily, if they don't, pop the boots off and lube the pins. It should be straightforward once you get in there. It also will let you check the pads to see if they're worn out.

the axles have seals. you need to pull the axles all the way out to change them. i'm doing this job on my 2000 Mountaineer as we speak. not fun and i had trouble locating the correct seal for the passenger side. AZ sold me a Timken 710428, which is listed as being correct, but was not. picking up a National 710428 (which appears to be correct) this afternoon.
