Just replaced all spark plug wire 98 EB V8. It took me about three hours total in doing it.

First off, it is my first time to replace the spark plug. I did it very carefull. I liftes front end and put two jack stands. I then took off the tire as well as the body trim retainer.

The spark plugs are still original. The good thing is that it is numbered so it is very clear which cable goes where.

However I was really frustrated because of below.

1) There are so many clips that hold the wire. Some are in very hard places to get. At last, even I was very careful, I think I destroyed half of the clips.

2) The original wire for for cylinder #4 is almost impossible to take out. It is routed undered the intake and goes stright the firewall. From there it then goes down to the plug 4 which is the most closetest to the passenger seat. Along the way, there are three clips. I managed to destroyed two. There is one left which I think that without open the cover of the intake it is impossible to reach it. What I did is to re-route the new wire for plug #4 in the same directio nas those for plug #1,#2 and #3. The original plug is still in the engine room and I used some hard wire to tight it with other pipes so that it doesn't get loose. I may just cut it later.

I wonder why Ford designed this so that it is so hard to get to. Does any one have the same experience? Ot it is just my truck?

You are not alone.
On my truck, the original spark plugs where so rusted that they broke off when I did try to replace them. I had three of them break on passanger side alone.
When I tried to replace the wires, I was in the same situation like you. Except that I need to have the cylinder head pulled to remove the last plug leftover... and that did help with the wires.

Ha, I just went through the same thing! I did figure out that the PIA clip under the intake can be pulled off the post, and then opened out in the open. When i got the new wire in, I just pushed it back onto the post.

I will take a look at it. I have re-routed the wire #4 so that it doesn't go there. I may try to pull the click out and get rid of the original wire.
