Yup
Control trac t case known for going bad and making lots of noise

Easy way to find out 99% of the time is drain the fluid and look see if any nylon bits in the fluid especially near the drain port (reach in with finger)

The very first thing I told him to check was for noise in the driveline and asked if it changes in 4wd

But he threw us all for a
Loop by saying it’s coming from the back inside the truck and sounds like electric motor

T case and trans are suspect for sure

I had to go back & check all my replies when you said this & I can't find the "threw us for a loop" comment about the noise being back in the trunk. Not sure where you're getting that from. I said it was in the engine bay; TC motor/Starter. Can you show me where you got that from? I really thought I was goin nuts after you said that!

Anyway, I talked to a long standing very reputable tranny repair place local to me & they're gonna check it out & give me the details of what they find. Told them I had a donor truck to swap parts & they're good with that. Look forward to seeing what they say. Don't wanna have to do a full swap if I don't have too.

Thanks for all the help everybody!

Well it’s a snowball effect
You said it sounds like electric motor
I said here are all the electric motors

Then you said this
“e. Seems like that rear hvac motor or the suspension pump may be the ones.”

Which had me focused on electric
Motors that are in the back / inside the truck…

So it’s not one thing that you said it’s my 6 am coffee forum reading brain that bounces us all over the place… carry on! My bad!

The last thing I want to do is add confusion! Lol… unfortunately that happens with internet diagnosis

No worries! I appreciate all your support & the others here!

My next adventure after getting this issue fixed is to figure out how I’m gonna get the left rear door open so I can figure out why the electric lock mechanism won’t unlock the door so I can use it agin, along with why the front passenger door lock has stopped working as well & now has a broken outside handle that needs to be replaced.

Sounds travel in weird directions sometimes.
