Hi Guys,

Got a 98 EX EB 5.0 AWD. Sensor 1 Bank 1 is shot. Got the part but by looking i'm seeing this sensor is up next to the transmission with a exhaust pipe in way of getting my hand up to disconnect it. It looks as if a crows foots will work in breaking it free as well any tips on getting at the connector? I'm gonna try the crowsfoot O2 socket from harbor freight as well. Which leads to my next issue sensor 2 bank 2 is seized into the pipe and I have done everything from heat to penetrating oil to get it loose to a point the nut is darn near rounded off. Any tips on getting it out? What would be steps to cutting and drilling it out? Also I have heard removing the center console is need to access three of the o2 sensors. How difficult is this?? There a post somewhere with the steps and some photos maybe? Third is my rear washer has stopped working. Now I know there is a relay in the power distribution box which I replaced and nothing. I even used the new relay in the relay box under the air breather in both under there and nothing on either one. Possible motor is gone? Is the task involve just unclipping the rear hatch panel to get at the motor ? Any help would be much appreciated. This site has been a big help to and enjoy reading it on a daily basis. By the way the EX was from up north so lots of rust and seized parts from salt and snow.

don't have any advice on the o2 sensors, but to remove the rear panel:

1. remove the interior grab handle (2 screws).
2. remove the plastic covers under the rear window and check for a screw
3. there are push-in clips along the top and sides of the trim panel. i think one on each side and maybe 4 along the top. pop them out with a trim tool or something flat. put a little grease on the metal clips when re-installing.
4. once the top of the panel is loose, there are a bunch of plastic clips/hooks (maybe 8) that the trim panel hangs on. simply lift it upwards to release them and the panel comes off.
5. the wiper motor is held on with 3 8mm bolts and a wire connector. frist remove the wiper arm, unbolt the motor and it comes right off. a reman motor is about $45 from Autozone, but check the power at the plug first. one wire should have power all the time. this is the "park" position for the arm. the others are ground and various speeds. a common problem is that the shaft of the motor corrodes and then gets stuck and wont turn. sometimes you can get it free and lube it.

tip: the wiper motor will not work with the rear glass of lift-gate open. forgetting that cost me an hour.
