98 transfer case

my transfer case is stuck in 4low and will not come out.
also the o/d light is flashing. when i disconnect the battery it will come out but not when i flip the switch. any body have any suggestions

Did you put your truck into neutrul to shift it out of 4lo? That is my only suggestion as I'm not too familiar with the v6 transfer cases.

i put it into neutral before i swithed it.

Quick question from a newbie here... what happens if you don't put it into neutral before turning the switch to 4 low?

It will not shift.

I thought so but Joey P's post had an ominous ring to it which kinda scared me. I should've known they'd idiot-proof it.
