Has anyone had problems with their front hubs and axels making noises after replacement? I have replaced my front hubs and cv axels twice and still am getting a squealing noise like either metal on metal or rubber on rubber, also been hearing a whining noise between 20 & 60 mph (like a super charger whining). Need to find out the problem before swapping the TC to the 4406.
Thanks in advance for any and all help.

What brand hubs did you use?
Did you service the brake calipers, their slide pins and pad hardware? The backing plates clear from the rotors?

Cheapo wheel bearings like Detroit axle and others will only last days/weeks/ months

Also your front d shaft is suspect if you have not inspected it… checkout the rubber boot at the t case side, any cracks? Splits, loosness?

I am using TRQ hubs and CV Axels. No, I didn't service the brake calipers, their slide pins and pad hardware, yes the backing plates clear from the rotors. The front drive shaft is fine, it has new u-joint and CV joint at TC. What kind of hubs and cv-axel shafts is everyone else using? When I spray the front axle with wd40 where it connects with the hub the squeal stops for a little while but always returns.

Well cv shafts on these trucks hold up rather well like 250k miles kind of well…. I usually use stock from used inventory
Parts store replacements are cheap and usually come with lifetime warranty, the “Cardone ” ones and the like seem to
Hold up well as long as they come with good boots and boot spacing.
Lifetime warranty is nice

It is the unit bearing/ wheel bearing that must be a quality unit. Also when pairing to new cv axles you need to lube the dust seal on the rear of the wheel bearing really well. You maybe hearing the dust boots wearing in? Usually they just fail and come off on the first 10000 miles anyways

The cv axle nut must be torqued properly!!! 188/204 ft lbs

I run motorcraft, spicer, timken, acdelco, moog wheel bearings. In that order
Carquest also has a new house brand wheel bearing many of their new parts made in USA and quality is good so is price

Careful here motorcraft offers a oem quality and a “service grade” wheel bearing

I’m going to lookup trq

Trq bearings made in china about $65 each for explorer they are “verified” at a factory in Massachusetts….. hmmm any $65 wheel bearing is going to be hit or miss I hate to say… but I learned the hard way years ago when I tried cheaper hub bearings for myself and customers, only to be replacing 80% of them 3-6 months later

How hard is it to replace the bearing in the hub? I have been getting my hubs and parts from 1A Auto, PartsGeek.com and O'Rielly Auto Parts.

Well found out what the whining noise between 20 & 60 mph (like a super charger whining) is, it's my transmission. Was planning on having it serviced soon but looks like I need to replace it.
Has anyone heard of or dealt with a company called Extreme Performance? They have remanufactured (not rebuilt according to them) OEM transmissions, transfer cases and engines. Was wondering if they are any good, they seem to have reasonable prices. Xtreme Performance any input/information on them would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
