I have a 1998 AWD explorer. When the AWD is in normal (not low or high), I hear clunking noise from the right front area when turning. When turning to the right, the noise is more pronounced. If the AWD is in high, the noise and jumping is even more pronounced. I took the front end apart and inspected the bearing / spindle assembly thinking the problem may be the bearing package. Both bearing asemblies (right & left) look fine. The CV joints seem ok but I am not sure how to inspect them. Any suggestions.
