I've searched for this info, I swear. I can find OEM codes, but they just don't match what's coming into / going out of my amp. 1998 XLt, premium sound but no sub. I've got the amp in the back, and the "larger" and "smaller" connectors obviously don't match up. I'm trying to get this install knocked out, so I don't want to order and wait for the adapter (althought I might have to :)). Can someone tell me which wires are the "speaker" wires, on both connectors? I can build my own bypass adapter then :).

Secondary quesiton - how in the HELL does one get the front seat out? I've got the two bolts up front, and the Torx bolt out, but there's clearly a 4th anchor point that I can't find. Suggestions?

Thanks!

you are bypassing the stock amp?

remove the amp entirely and run new wire into each door :-P

Front seats have four bolts, equally spaced. The seat must be amost completely forward to get the two rear bolts.

There is a seatbelt T50 bolt for the seatbelt also. Good luck,

CDW - I've taken seats out w/the 4 bolts before - my explorer isn't set up that way :). It's a 98 with the power seats (forward/back/up/down). There are two "normal" bolts holdinig L-brackets on the front, and there's a T50 torx holding the end of the left rail to the center hump. There are no other easily exposed bolts, torx or otherwise. Now, since I can't lift it out, there's clearly another one :), which I can't find. Other thoughts?

Second question - I looked up the amp bypass harness on Crutchfield, and it seems that it doesn't fit this vehicle. Can someone show me the correct part or part number? (I thought I had it). Again, 1997 explorer, amp is in the back for the door speakers, no sub. Thanks.

My 98 is the same as yours, and just about every bucket seat Ford has every made. There are four main bolts. Run the seat forward all of the way. Then remove the plastic bolt covers at the rear corners of the seat rails. There will be bolts under them. Being an electric seat, you will need to locate the seat forward enough to reach them, before unplugging the seat. Good luck,

i ditto what he said. had to take out my passenger seat to run wires to my amp from the dvd. theres 4 bolts. even on my driver seat. and i have same exact truck you do.
