I checked out your ride on Sound Domain. You did some really sweet stuff on the inside. I can see your 0-60 times being what they are. You have a lot of weight in there! I have a huge sub box w/ 12's in it in the back of mine. It seems like a funny car when I hammer it because it squats so much. It's almost like a launch.

all in all my truck is probablly 5k pounds.. I guestimate 500 pounds over what it weighs stock.. w/o me in it.. I dont know if that equates 4 seconds.

I would side with knox on this one.. I hate soccer lol, but thats just a preference. .I'm more of a football/hockey kind of guy.

no exhaust work, WOT mod which helped a lot.. definatly noticable, and i took a dremel to my airbox... ill be getting a KKM and flowmaster exhaust soon enough

darkfox, im holding off on the apten chip until i hear from some other 5.0's that are getting it, after hearing about it killing black magics truck, im gonna sit on my $200 for the moment

Darkfox - it is impossible for driver error on an automatic, you floor it and go, how could you mess up on that? You and Knox are the only ones having these problems, its very feasible you guys got lemons, I mean how in the hell are your trucks slower than ohv V6 Explorers?

And it has nothing to do with the miles, right before my mom traded in her 97 Mounty with 80,000 miles, I ran it at the track and cranked off 16.3-16.4 times and 0-60 times around 8.4 seconds completley stock. Her 2000 Mounty now runs a 16.2 in the quarter and trapped around 85mph and about 8 seconds flat to 60. And both Mountys were 2wd and 3.73 gears.

I can probably tow our 27ft Fountain and beat you guys in a race

Plus you were getting mileage in Excursion territory, yet our Mounty gets 15-16 in the city and 20-22 on highway. And I'm constantly on the gas and taking off from lights at 3000rpm or more.

Theres no driver error, floor it and go, can't mess up on that. It should show you that you have a lemon/or something seriously wrong with your truck when you guys are posting times that are 4 or more seconds slower than everyone else with the 5.0

knoxfan - WOT = wide open throttle, at least your magnaflows sound good, wondered what they would sound like on an 5.0 Explorer. For my 02' 4.6 Mounty I'm going for twin Magnaflow mufflers and mandrel bent pipes for true duals. Magnaflows kick azz!

well then it has to be the weight that I added to it wiht my mods.... thats the only thing left..

it can be driver error.. you can get a bad launch, or let off the pedal wrong, the whole drivetrain is watching your every move and changes its reactions based on what you do.

you know I've also been told the G-tec is off by a few seconds... I can't contest your times however 9if you got them from a dragstrip.

I get 14 mpg city... got 12 last tank, everyone says this is normal... at least the lifted guys seem to. and I rev to 4k from every redlight.. unless theres someone in front of me prohibiting such.

His truck is a V6 sohc. My Apten in a V6 sohc couldn't perform better.

your added weight of a couple hundred pounds you said would not drop your 0-60 time by that much. With 5 people in the Mounty (thats a good poundage over a couple hundred pounds) I still have no problem passing anybody or pulling aways from lights.

I used the g-tec one night with five of us in the Mounty, about 750lbs for all of us, and I got 0-60 in 10.4 seconds.

The new g-tecs are very accurate, I used my neighbors and the numbers he got on the g-tec for his 02' Explorer and modded Audi S4 are only off by about .01 seconds which is not even possible to notice. And it gives me the same numbers that I ran at the track.

I remember when you said it used to take 14-17 seconds for your truck. At least it's slightly quicker now, but still slow as a dog.

ummm. you gotta be the worse driver in the world to mess up an auto launch all you do is floor it nothing else, can't see how someone would mess that up. Punch it from a light, if you hit the brake instead or slip you got some coordination problems All I do is either brake torque it or just floor it, no science involved in that.

But still your running 0-60 in over 10 seconds which is slower than an ohv V6, and all the rest of us are getting 0-60 in the 8-8.4 range for the 5.0, using your times for a basis that would make the ohv v6 run to 60 in like 15 or 16 seconds.

My truck is just as fast with just a driver as it is with 4 people and a back full of scuba tanks.

Why would you let off the gas?

ok, I estimated my truck to weigh some 4800 pounds.

with the dyno test peak HP of 170.2 I put that into this:

Estimated 1/8 mile MPH: 62.16

0-60 in 11.28 according to that.. I get 12.. so I guess my truck is right on track

What rpm was your Dyno peak HP registered at? What rpm are you turning at 60mph in your 0-60 runs?
