I have a 99 Eddie Bauer with the 4.0 SOHC.
I was having trouble with it seeming to miss second gear shifting into 3rd gear and then settling back into second gear and then all shifts thereafter were fine until I stopped and the whole cycle started again.
this would happen a couple of times and then I would get the flashing OD off light.
I replaced the transmission and am now having nearly the same problem only now it shifts into second but it bucks hard when doing so and I still get the occasional OD off light blinking.
Once the OD off light comes on it stops shifting below 3rd gear.
when I turn it off everything is reset as before.
