i just cleaned my M.A.F. and throttle body. i cleaned the butterfly plate and as far in the manifold as i could reach. there was about 10 years of carbon buildup so it took me about 2 hours to clean it right. but when i re-installed everything, my 99 explorer was idling at 1 thousand rpm's. i read that the m.a.f would reset itself so i didn't worry to much about it. today, i replaced my I.A.C. with a new one from advaced auto parts, and now i'm having real problems. it's running very hot now and my car was idling at 2 thousand rpm's and it's accelerating itself! i dont even push the gas and it's going 2 thousand rpm's at 30 mph.i can drive around town and never push the gas once. well, i bought a cigar and blew the smoke into one of the manifolds hoses, and i saw smoke coming from the I.A.C area. I tightened the screws down and it did help a little. the rpm/s are now at 1,500 during idle. i can hear an air leak somewhere but i can't find it anywhere.somewhere near the back, near the firewall. i tried the cigar smoke test again but, this time no smoke came out of anywhere. i've cleaned my fuel injectors with seafom twice just to be sure.i replaced the old fuel filter. i changed my pcv valve, i changed my spark plugs and wires, and tomorrow my egr is coming in. this is my only vehicle and without it i'll be out of a job. i need some help please. p.s. i'm a newby at fixing my own explorer.
