ok so it a 99 and now my flashers were u turn them on at i have to have thos eon in order to use my turn signals and if it is off then no turn signals so can someone help me with that and also why would my truck bounce around in rpm from 600 to about 1200 when i sometimes sit in park and idle at 500 and almost stall?

hey thanks

thanks for moving it i really dont know how to work this forum i mean ok what is a iac solenoid ? and how do i fix my trans shift lever like to adjust it back to normal

The IAC = Idle Air Control. That may be causing your bouncing RPM's. There are several threads around here on cleaning or replacing it - search for IAC and you'll find them.

If your turn signal bulbs are ok, the issue may be the multifunction switch itself (the turn signal/wiper/hazard switch). Again, there are several threads on replacing that as well.

What's wrong with the shift lever?

well it needs adjusted i yanked on it to hard one day i was angry and no my park is almost reverse and my drive is in second

ok so now i know how to fix that and why is it all my window switchs except my driver side window switch not work ? and has anyone every had to put your hazard switch on just to use your turn signals ?? cuz if I turn off the hazard button they wont work what could be the problem and when it gets cold my door open switch stays on during the winter what could be the problem with that?

For the turn signals, it sounds like a bad multifunction switch. That is what controls both the hazard light and the turn signal functions.

Regarding the rolling idle, If you have the SOHC V-6 (8th character of the VIN will be an E) it's likely leaky lower intake manifold gaskets. Search for 'lower intake manifold gasket' for all the info. It's the time of year where this problem is going to be talked about on here a lot.

On a side-note, please try to use some capitalization, punctuation, and grammar when posting on this forum. It's very difficult to read posts like this one and understand what the poster is trying to ask.

ok well, I need to know when the switch is I mean what would cause that a relay or what and if so can someone show me. Well its not my head gasket becuase of my spraying alittle ethier around the gaskets and it didn't change the idle at all so would it be the IAC motor? and I seen that you shouldn't clean it because of fluid getting into that, felt filter in that little access hole or something I read on here

I didn't say head gasket, I said 'lower intake manifold gasket'. Very different units. Unless you've changed them in the last couple of years, that's where I'd put my money. You could try replacing the IAC, but I won't hold my breath. I'm assuming that down in Circleville, it's started getting down into the low 60s or upper 50s at night, right? And then after the engine warms up for a few minutes, the rolling idle goes away, but it idles low (around 400-500 rpms) right?

Run a search for 'multifunction switch' and you'll find plenty of info.

sorry I meant intake gasket lol ok and yeah man thats what it does and it will sit at at a light and go to 500 and my truck sounds a bad running v8. not good like its running lean or something But I found out those plastic manifolds will crack in the intake runners I'm just trying to sell and get a pickup. so ill try and check the intake and gaskets.plus, the Iac is 100.00 at autozone holy crap lol

Check the 'For Sale' forum here... there's bound to be an IAC valve there for much less.... Someone's parting out hundreds of Explorers on there, so the parts are available.

But personally, I wouldn't bother with the IAC... The plastic intake manifolds on this engine are not known for cracking. They are, however, known for the lower intake manifold gaskets leaking. if you're at-all handy with hand tools, the swap is pretty simple.... It'll take a shade-tree mechanic about 2-3 hours the first time following the how-to on this site, and the parts are about $55 from www.fastpartsnetwork.com (part number YL2Z-9E473-AA)

edit, just found the gaskets alone on ebay for $20. Search for 'explorer manifold gasket' and they'll be there. I'd e-mail the seller to verify the right part number. The Ford kit also includes the oil gallery volume reduction plug and pipe plug for it which helps extend the life of the timing chain tensioners.

ok well now on the the drive selector indicator on there is a lil wire and does it hook on the hook almost above it and a little white piece with a hole in it. fell when i hit it un hooked it so when i yank on it it looks perfect but when it was on the hook like thing i pushed it up about 3/4inch and instead of saying it was in reverse it was in park? am I missing something on it?

Huh? It looks like English, but I have no idea what you're asking...

ok listen carefully lol ok have you ever been underneath of the steering colum. there is a thumb wheel to tighten the little orange pointer to tell u if your in reverse or drive. ok are you following me well mine was off some when I was in park it said reverse.I'm not sure where that white piece which if I was betting on it, I would say it was a tension holder just to pull the tiny ass cable tight.do I have to but that whole peice from ford?
