My Explorer is having some interesting problems. I turned it off at a convienence store the other day, cut off a little funny, but I didn't really think anything of it. I went to start it, nothing, didn't even seem to try to turn over. I got a jump, started driving home when I realized I had a bigger issue on hand. It was snowing so the windshield wipers were going, and the radio was on, but when I went to put the window down the computer (where the milage, range etc. are displayed) and the compass flashed out all of the lcd like they were turned off and back on. I got home, when I was parking, I turned the lights on to see what would happen and the same thing happend. I haven't gotten the battery checked yet, and I need a new one, however I didn't know if that was all it was.

sounds like your alternator went out killing your battery. i can replace the alt in 10min it is not a big deal. measure the voltage across the battery terminals with the engine running it should be 14-14.5 volts

Thanks!

If it reads less, then is it the alternator?
If it reads somewhere around there, could it just be the battery?
Would it be OK to use a reman.ed alternator, or should I get a new one?

Thanks again.

if it is under 13.5 while the engine is running it is prob the alt the only way to really know is to have it tested. places like autozone and sears do it for free. i would say there is a 90% chance it is dead

remans aue usually just as good as new these days

Thanks again...

I appreciate it.:D

I'm glad I found this place.

It ended up just being the battery, but thanks.
