I needed to replace the A/C accumulator on my Mountaineer and the one pipe is held in by a spring clip that is essentially a spring in the shape of an O-ring that grabs the flange of the mating piece. I needed a tool to get this apart. I read in the book that the tube is 3/4 inch and remembered that plastic drink bottles have this dimention for the cap. Found a water bottle, cut the neck off, split it with a pair of heavy duty shears and gave the end of it a small bevel. I also trimed back the threads for the cap, but I don't think it was really necessary. Slid it on and the tubes came apart so easily I even impressed myself. Who needs a special tool when you can make one from the recyclables? I did a similar thing with the screw on dispensing tube from atube of RTV to get the fuel lines apart a while back. Another tennant for the "Special Tools" drawer.
