First the disclaimer.....I have no working knowledge of A/C Hi/Low pressures. All I know about A/C is the compressor should cycle and not short cycle.

Here is the problem.....The last couple of days here in SC has been in the mid 80's so I ran the A/C. The first day it was blowing slightly cool air, but not cold. I checked and the compressor will cycle on/off (not short). The next day I found the passanger side vents were delivering colder air than the drivers side. I checked the temperature between the sides and this was the results (A/C on max....RPM's at 2K):

Driver's side - 80 degree F.
Passanger side - 65 degree F.
Why would there be a 15 degree difference between sides?

When I start the A/C I hear the door close (I could only assume that is the blend door). I do not have any means of checking pressures until my buddy gets back in town on Monday. Any help would be appreciated.....Thanks

No Air Conditioner guys on the forum.....My buddy will be back late Sunday evening; I will get the pressures checked on Monday. It that is good to go I will be calling Ford. I have the premium extended waranty, so they should take care of it. I just want to check everything I need to check before carrying it to the dealership.

Any info is appreciated.....

Well all the info was helpful.....not....Anyway I carried the Strac by my buddies today and it is low on Freon. When we removed the High pressure side you could see the dye under the cap. He suggested taking the truck to the dealership because it is still under warranty. He works for Ford and ran my service records and nothing was reported for any A/C problems. I will carry the truck to the dealership tomorrow. Hopefully this will be over this week.

Well.....went to the dealership today and they did not find a leak. They pulled a vacuum and it held for 1/2 hour without any problem. They added additional dye and charged the A/C system. I have good cold air now, but how long will it last. I know it did not just evaporate.....it had to go somewhere.

After 5 years it might have just been a little low. Did they check the pressure before the vacuum test?
Ok, just read they did and low. A simple can or two might have topped it off.

In all honesty it does happen where the freon does dissipate over time. I've worked on many cars where the freon was 3 or 4 ounces lower than recommended and the compressor doesn't not kick on at all. There may be a very small leak don't worry about it now see at the end of the summer if you have lost any then go from there. There are two ways to find a leak the oil that is put in glows with a black light or a freon sniffing machine. (yes it "smells" freon) and starts beeping.

Yes....hopefully I will not have any further problems. They did add more dye and a buddy of mine has a black light and sniffer I can use just in case. They did not tell me how much they added, but he did say it passed all the test.
