Hey Guys!
So it's time to tackle my second small problem with my new-to-me X. When I picked it up, I put the ATC on 74 (like I usually keep it on in my EB) and the thing went into heat. Put it on 72, still heat. The thing wouldn't go into A/C until I put it on 67. Then it satisfied about 5 minutes later, and went into heat again. Well I remembered that the seller had mentioned a problem like this and he had taken it to dealer, and they fixed it. Um, no they didn't. I found the invoice for the work with the complaint being: A/C won't work until ATC is set to 67. Well, all the dealer did was check the pressures and assured 39 degree discharge.
So, I go to my dealer today to get a front liscence plate bracket and mention my problem to my TRUSTED parts guy. He says "no problem, blow out the thermistor". Whereas I respond "WTF?" He tells me what to do and I head back to the office. I grab a tank of R22 and blow out the little opening where (I guess) the thermistor is. WooHoo, the A/C will work with the ATC set at 74! I am thinking all is well.
So, on my way home, I have the ATC set on 74 and everything works great until it satifies. At that point, it either goes to straight outside air or heat (hard to tell since it was so frickin hot today). About 1 minute later, it realizes it is gettin hot again and goes back to A/C. Now when my EB satifies, it goes to low fan and blows "cool" air (I assume simple recycled air). So, I know that my new one isn't doing right.
Long story, simple questions. Do any of you guys have any experience with the ATC system? Is anyone familiar with what is going on with mine? I have read that simply replacing the "thermistor" will prolly solve my problem. What is Ford's technical term for this thermistor?
Whew! That's Enough Typing!
