hello everyone i have a 2000 explorer ac compressor was working just fine all summer.one morning leaving for work i turn on ac and nothing but warm air. compressor was switching on and off pretty quickly. now wont even come on at all. fuse and relay check out ok. now what. 173,000 miles on the vehicle. any ideas? thanks

it was short cycling because it was low on refrigerant. Now it is low enough that the low pressure switch is protecting it. You need to find the leak and then charge the system.

what is the easiest way to find a leak? this vehicle has never had its ac serviced. never had to add freon. always blew cold..

check for signs of refrigerant oil around hose connections, compressor shaft and belly, condenser, accumulator. Might see the green UV dye put in at the factory also. The best way is either UV dye or Electronic leak detector. soapy water can find the big leaks.
