Want to try to get my A/C working by summer. Never worked since I have had it. I dont know a whole lot at all about A/C so what are some things to look for to figure the problem out? I know the compressor doesnt kick on first of all.

Try reading the sticky posts section at the top. Your question is generic and too braod. read up on 1st gen AC systems and their repair and then ask a more detailed question.

You will need to check the pressure in the system with a manifold gauge. There is probably no pressure in the system, since the low pressure cut out switch prevents the compressor's clutch from engaging without sufficient pressure in the system. You could test the operation of the clutch if you use a wire to temporarily jump the pressure switch. The clutch should engage. If not, then you might have a blown fuse, bad clutch coil or another problem in the system.

Well its starting to warm up and I had some free time today so I took a look at it. There is no freon what so ever in the system. Jumped the pressure switch and the compressor kicked on and spins fine. Guess its time to charge it up and see if there is any leaks or what not.

...You might take advantage of the system being empty and replace the O rings now...

...Odds are your O rings went bad and leaked out your freon...;)

Where are all the o-rings in the system? That probably wouldnt be a bad idea.

I know of the 2 on the back of the compressor but thats the only ones I know of. lol
