I'm having some issues with my 94' explorer limited. My A/C blows warm...I have charged the A/C 3 times in the past month and each time there has been 0 pressure in the AC system so I suspect a leak somewhere...

All I know is that today, @ autozone, right after I charged it I noticed a hissing sound coming from the condenser area perhaps? I have heard people talking about an emergency pressure valve that blows open when the system is greatly overcharged - i was wondering if the hissing sound could be that valve or if it was simply a leak in the condenser...

any help appreciated,

pablo

Sounds like a leak in the condensor, it might have been nailed by a flying rock or some other road object. Or it could be a leaky fitting it just depends on where the hissing is coming from.

I think the high pressure safety valve is located on the highside outlet of the compressor manifold assemby, in other words the thing with the hoses that bolts to the back of the compressor.

I used to work for ford, and the condensors are known to go on the explorers with some milage on them
so check for a leak there

thanks guys. I lifted the condenser out of the car today, and sure enough there was basically a large piece of gravel wedged in there, which had cracked a good portion of it. It was filthy as all hell too. Spent $100 on a new one, dropped it in and now my a/c is ice cold.
