Hello,
2021 Explorer PHEV EU version, here's the problem:

After last service recall (rear axle bolts + entire element replaced) my A/C is off by default.
When you choose "auto" 1, 2 or 3 it goes off. Then stays on when turned on. Until next morning.
No errors, all systems operational.
Annoying to have to turn it on if not willing to have steamy windows.

Any ideas how to revert it so it would be ON by default?
Thanks for the tips :)

I've noticed the same thing actually and was looking for info on that. I thought I was going mad. No one else seemed to notice the change. But this happened to me maybe a month or two after the last visit to service, so that's within 2025. But yeah, the weird thing is that A/C stays on - until next day. I also tried to take comfort in "it's just smart and knows what's the best mode to use" :D But ..no. And this might be a bigger problem when the summer comes.

Another thing I noticed was that before when I had the car in charger, I had it set so that it only charges to 90 or 95 %. These days it goes all the way up to 100%< despite the setting. Have you had something like that or other weird things?

I also have the EU ST-Line PHEV.

Hello, greetings for Finland!
Same thing with charging level. It might be the not-exact positioning fault since my charging place is like 40 meters away from the main building (and the home adress).

For the A/C, it might be coded to behave like this depending on outside/desired interior temperature. Sometimes when A/C is defaultly off and I push up the button to incerase or decerase temp it turns the AC on. Will do further investigation :)

Hello, thank you and greetings to Poland too!
My charging "station" is maybe 2 meters away from where I sleep : D
But yeah, anyway, I'd appreciate any further info if you ever get wiser on the matter.
I'll also let you know if I get some answers! :)

After the winter and with temperatures above 20*C again the A/C started to function as before.
It looks like 6th gen. Explorer decides by itself when it is necessary to turn the A/C on. So it's not a bug, it's a "feature" :)

Hadn't problems with humidity inside so maybe even with A/C off the car dries the air.

Funny you mentioned the humidity since I was actually thinking the same thing the other day! Also, we took a trip a few weeks ago to Denmark and Norway with the car being fully packed with people. Even when diving into the deepest tunnels in Norway, with roadsigns warning about high humidity, car glasses stayed clear. And the air in cabin was not humid at all. I mean even with A/C being turned off. Of course it was on when it was 25°c and sunny outside. But some days it stayed Off when it was under 20°c and cloudy.

Anyway - like PHEVPL stated, it seems this is just a car with features so smart it boggles the drivers' minds :) Thank you btw for letting us know that it is (at least seems to be) actually a normal thing, "a feature" like you said, and reminding me about this thread! :)

Auto on my last 2 Lincolns and this Ford means just that: AUTO. Unless you press the AC button to turn it on, it is heat, ventilation or dried/cooled air as needed. Just set the temperature and forget it. Most people just don't get it and play around with fan speed and temperature manually. I tell them do you do that in your house with the thermostat? The system maintains the temperature and adjusts fan speed accordingly whether it needs to heat up or cool down the interior to get to that desired temperature. In the winter, when my windows fog up, the system turns on the AC to dry the air and clear the windows most of the time unless there's a drastic extreme change in temperature and humidity. The nice feature that this car has and my 2013 Lincoln MKZ didn't have is the AUTO has 3 fan speed settings you can toggle through. I like it on 1 bar in winter and 3 bars in summer. Also, the fan speed goes down automatically when you get a phone call to decrease noise.

I use 'Auto' all the time and have done so on my previous vehicles as well.

Peter
