My AC compressor doesn't work when I turn it on at high speeds/rpms. The fan speeds up but no cold air. As soon as I slow down or if I turn on the AC when slowed down, it works fine and pumps good, cold air. Once it's working, I can speed up and all's well. It just won't come on if I turn it on at high speeds/rpms--and this occurs intermittently anyway.

Any ideas o nthe problem? the clutch?

it could be excessive a/c clutch gap.

How do I adjust the a/c clutch gap?

The clutch air gap is set by using shims. You can check the clutch air gap using a non-magnetic feeler gauge without removing anything. It sure sounds like an engagement problem. Clutch air gap, weak clutch, bad switch... geeze the list is a long one. Start by checking the clutch air gap - it's the distance between the front plate and the back plate... specs should be in your manual. If not let us know I'll dig em out.

Happy exploring

Chris
