my ac seems not as cold so i picked up a recharge kit with a guage on it. it say that between 25-45 on the guage is normal. so, when i connect the guage to the low-side port, it shows nearly exactly 45 psi when the clutch stops spinning, and drops to 25 psi when the clutch begins to spin. so, if that is normal, then itn seems as if everything should be on the money, but i definitely don't feel as if my ac is as cold as it used to be. i don't want to discharge the 134 b/c i do not want to overfill. any tips?

Test and charging is done in the heat, Max A/C, high fan and the doors open for max heat load. If the system is properly charged the clutch will stay engaged and hold around 30-35 psi. Your kit should also allow you to check the high side pressure. You might also look for an oily place where your system is leaking. Only charge with the can in the upright position to prevent liquid feed back and destruction of the compressor. Also if your system is low on R135 you may also need a little oil charge.
